Conference “Key Aspects of Water Management”

On 6 March 2025, the city of Zalishchyky hosted the conference “Key Aspects of Water Management”. The event was organized within the framework of the project “PACT – Partnership for a Cleaner Future. Cross-border project for improving sustainable wastewater management in Jarosław and Zalishchyky”, supported by European Union funds under the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme.

Conference topics included:

Modern wastewater treatment facilities – a guarantee of a clean future.

Principles of water management in Zalishchyky.

Legal aspects of water management and strategies for managing water resources.

Basin-level water resource management.

The impact of treatment facilities on the condition of surface and groundwater bodies.

The project aims to build effective cross-border cooperation between Jarosław and Zalishchyky and to develop joint solutions for sustainable water supply and wastewater management. Key activities include:

Construction of approximately 8,400 meters of sewer network in Jarosław, enabling residents of the northern part of the city to connect to the system.

Reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities in Zalishchyky, serving about 9,000 residents.

Development of a cross-border “Strategy for Sustainable Water and Wastewater Management Jarosław–Zalishchyky”.

Diagnostic surveys and reports on the state of water supply and wastewater systems in both cities.

Meetings with residents on both sides of the border, as well as conferences and training sessions.

Promotion of the project at every stage of its implementation.

This event provided an opportunity to share achievements and perspectives for the future development of the sector. The conference became an important element in building long-term cross-border cooperation.
