Presentation of the Project “PACT – Partnership for a Cleaner Future”
On 2 May 2025, the presentation of the project “PACT – Partnership for a Cleaner Future. Cross-border project for improving sustainable wastewater management in Jarosław and Zalishchyky” funded by the international programme INTERREG NEXT Poland–Ukraine took place during a meeting of the international MIT group “Design of a Post-War, Decentralized, Renewable Energy Powered Drinking Water Supply and Treatment System in Ukraine”. The group’s activities are aimed at supporting Ukraine’s infrastructure recovery.
With the participation of leading experts in hydroengineering, hydrochemistry, and hydrology, as well as representatives of the American Water Partnership Association and the Ukrainian Water Association, Adam Khomyak, Director of Municipal Enterprise “Zalishchyky Vodokanal,” presented the main provisions of the project for the reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities in Zalishchyky. The project will enable wastewater treatment for a population of more than 9,000 residents.
Experts highly appreciated the efforts of the Zalishchyky community and the local water utility to improve access to clean water resources and protect the environment. In the future, the project may serve as an example of successful Ukrainian local self-government practice in the process of real European integration.
